Organic produce for Wednesday, April 27th

Good morning everyone!

No downpour of rain, so far!

Today’s 2nds are oranges, onions yellow carrots and zucchini. (Not everyone will get zucchini. There weren’t enough.)

The carrots are past their expiration but they look fine. You should try to use them up quickly. The first great idea is to throw them on a pan with olive oil, salt and pepper (rosemary or thyme if you like) and roast them at 400 F for an hour or until browned. Makes sure to mix them frequently.

You can also juice them or use them to make a carrot cake or kugel.

It works out well that we’re halfway through the week already because this week the box is a little emptier because the kale we got was buggy and yellow. I couldn’t bear to put it in your boxes. The entire box is sitting off to the side on the porch. You’re welcome to be brave and take as much as you want to salvage. Otherwise, it’s going to compost.

Also, most boxes have broccoli. The ones without broccoli have mushrooms instead. Pick the box you like.

Enjoy the good weather while it lasts!

p.s. I’m hoping for strawberries next week.
